Hashim A. Age 9
Crossroads Park
Houston, Texas
I am 9 years old and I love to play baseball. I am on a team that is coached by my Grandfather, Father, and Uncle (My Aunt works the dugout at games, and my Grandma keeps the score in the book). Did I already say that I LOVE baseball? My team holds practice 3 days a week on the field at Crossroads Park. The ground is really rough and it is all grass. We have to bring our own bases and my Grandfather measures them out every time before we play. He says it is important to get it right. I think it would be really nice if the field looked more like a real one, and the ground was more smooth, so the ball would not bounce so high on grounders. I also think it would be nice to have bases so that other people in the neighborhood could play if they did not have any to bring. My grandfather always says that you have to look inside yourself to be a great player. He said that I must have a strong mind in order to be a good player. I have to have courage, strength, and a will to play my best and be the best at everything I do. If I use these three things in games as well as in school I will always have the Power Within to have an A game.
